This Week in HWA History: August 20th - 26th
Welcome to another week in the history of HWA! This a pretty big week featuring one of the biggest shows HWA ever put together, lots of title changes, the end of a historical title reign and much more! There’s so much going on that I couldn’t settle on just one match of the week, I had to pick two and they’re both worth your time.
As a reminder, if you enjoy this project, please subscribe below and be sure to spread the word to your friends. I’m coming up on the six-month mark of this project and the feedback has been great so far! Comments, stories and anything else are totally welcome!
Now, let’s jump with the Matches of the Week
Matches of the Week
Normally I only show one match of the week but there were too many good options that I couldn’t pick just one! So this week there are two awesome matches to check out
First is a street fight from the August 23, 2005 TV taping featuring HWA Tag Team Champions Foreign Intelligence (Quinten Lee & Ala Hussein) defending against the team of Whack Plus (Brian Jennings & Dr Bones). It’s always cool to see pre-Adrenaline HWA from the Evendale version of the HWA Arena and this is no exception as it’s a wild match.
The second match this week is a true hidden gem and one of the biggest matches HWA ever promoted, Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson from the August 2010 Road to Destiny event. This was a match I was lucky enough to have been in attendance for and it still holds up today as a classic. This was when Danielson was doing his tour of the indies after getting released from WWE and oddly enough this match was actually after he re-debuted at SummerSlam the previous weekend. Definitely worth checking this match out and sharing it with your friends!
